You guys…
I have struggled with a two-bag system for years. I have always carried a purse (for all the usual purse things) as well as a “work bag” for my laptop, notebook, folders, phone charger, etc. It wasn’t that I hadn’t tried to find a bag that could do it all…I just couldn’t find one. Sure, I’ve had gigantic purses that fit my laptop, but they were always unstructured bags without compartments. In other words, giant BLACK HOLES in which to lose all my stuff. I could frequently be found dumping the contents of my bag out onto the floor, searching for something random like a mini-stapler. Grrrrrrrr.
And there are certainly plenty of business-y satchels out there…but I have never found one that I didn’t think screamed LAPTOP BAG. I wanted something big enough for my laptop that still looked like a handbag. I wanted it all.
And then I FOUND IT.
The Tory Burch York Buckle Tote. Full disclosure, Jennifer also has this tote. She had it first! I am totally copying her. I was having the hardest time finding a bag that checked all my boxes, and she suggested this one. What took me so long to buy it? No idea. But I’m so glad I did.
This York Buckle Tote comes in red, black and navy (shown).
The best part about this bag is the pockets. There are FOUR interior slip pockets (for phone, keys, sunglasses and pens. I have a lot of pens.). In addition, there’s a side zipper compartment where I keep random stuff (hairbrush, etc). The crowning achivement is the interior zipper pocket that divides the bag into two sections. This interior zipper pocket is large enough to hold my laptop, my favorite Sugar Paper Notebook (I use one every two-three months instead of a planner) and various folders. People make fun of my folders, but when you work on-the-go a lot (and I do!), you need access to all your papers like school forms, invoices, etc. My Tory Burch make-up bag (Jennifer gave me this little baby years ago and it has served me so well – what we can say, we’re brand-loyal!) and HOBO wallet (this one is super similar) fit neatly on one side, and I keep my phone and laptop chargers on the other.
If I seem weirdly excited about this bag, it’s because I’ve spent years digging through two bags in frustration, struggling to find my stuff. I highly recommend this tote for anyone who frequently works out of town (me), in coffee shops (me, again) or in any random place (me, me, me). Happy Thursday!
